Jim and his family are now one of the largest property owners in Bricktown, owning many properties including The Santa Fe Train Station and the Coca Cola Bricktown Event Center. His pride in Bricktown and his grandson were ready topics of conversation. Johnathon Reid Vance is in the nicu at baptist doing very well. He was a special man and my thoughts and prayers are with the family he loved so very much.

My name is Tom Wheeland. Our community has lost one of its most colorful figures. We all have enjoyed the time together each year at the Family Christmas Celbration you all have been so kind to provide. He took me in during a difficult time in my life and I will be eternally grateful for that.

We are sorry for your loss. I was saddened to hear of his passing. I alway thought if they had given coffee an honest effort and been able to stick it out a couple more years (as off-season traffic was already picking up and continues to increase) they would have eventually thrived. We love and miss everyone and very sad that we cant make it. I looked for him at every Bricktown event and he always greeted me with a hug and glad to see me. We will always remember and appreciate Jimmy Dale taking some of his time one day a few years back to head us in the right direction with some good advise. He was born on May 22, 1946 to William M. Brewer & Jessie Lou Williams in OKC, OK. You are all amazing people and have touched my life in so many ways.

He was always a joy to work with and even though he didn't always agree on the "cost" of all the fire protection required (at the Haunted House especially) he always complied when he realized it was in the best interest of the customers to provide health and safety. I love your family! I was privilaged to work with Mr Brewer while he was on the Extended Care Unit at the Veterans Administration Hospital.

He also loved umpiring softball games for OCASA which he did for 14 years. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. When I think of Bricktown, I will think of Jim Brewer.

Brewer was the first notable player to come out of Proviso East High School, which has one of the most successful high school basketball programs in Illinois.In 1969, Brewer, playing center, led his team to the first of four state championships.
